Platteville M

It ended up being a beautiful start to fall this weekend. We walked up the Platteville “M” today and enjoyed a hike and a bit of climbing. On our way home we stopped at the site of the first territorial capital of Wisconsin, in Belmont.

Full Saturday

We started our day off with Alstan’s soccer game. They won their game, so that feels good!

After lunch we did some fossil hunting. We found both pieces to a rather large one! We were all pretty excited about that. Aunt Nette also found the one below that is just loaded with fossils!

We then stopped by the Fennimore Toy Museum. Elsie was excited to see the huge display of Barbies of almost every color! While it was not a huge toy collection, it was quite interesting. They had a range of toys from the late 1800’s to present day.

Finally, a trip to Gays Milks to check out the apple orchards!

Peck’s Farmer Market

It has been quite a while since we have gone to Pecks, but since Alstan’s soccer game was near by we thought we’d stop in. It was rather cold, so we didn’t stay too long.

Happy First Day of School!

Yes, we all went back to school, but Elsie is the only one we got a first day picture of. As you can see, she is very excited about the new year!

Labor Day

What to do when it is raining all day? We wanted to do something fun for our last day of summer break, but outdoor activities were not an option. Dad’s school has a rock climbing wall, so, yes, we spent the day at school! Between rock wall climbing, basketball and soccer, we wore ourselves out.

Visit to State St.

Mom wanted to check out the University art museum, so we spent a bit of time on State St. today. Local artist put up 85 painted Buckys over the summer as a charity fundraiser. The kids and dad started taking photos with them while Mom had a work day, so we decided to carry on the tradition today. We did not find all 85, but between the two days they did find quite a few.

High Cliff Hike

It was so nice to visit Aunt Tracey and Andrew for the day yesterday. We enjoyed a hike at High Cliff and later mini-golfing in Oshkosh.

Today we had just a little time to visit with grandma and grandpa and the Moenk family.

Impromptu Visit

Adam and I were able to take a trip to Nashville for our anniversary. One of the artist we really enjoyed while we were there was performing at a cancer fundraiser in Little Chute, WI. We decided to make a last minute trip to support a good cause and listen to the music of Carl Wockner. It ended up being fun for the whole family!

... and we had an opportunity to visit with grandma and grandpa Zielicke.

Family Camping Trip

Although our trip was cut a bit short due to rain, we were still able to go for a family trail bike ride, hiked and played at the lake for an afternoon. Alstan and Elsie were pleasantly surprised to meet up with their friends just as we were about to take back the paddle boat we had rented at the lake. We ended up spending a couple extra hours just letting them play together at the beach!

National Mississippi River Museum

Alstan has decided that a trip to the museum is now a family tradition every summer. Although we have been there so many times, he still has to see every animal tank and exhibit. This year’s traveling exhibit was the Leonardo de Vinci notebooks.

Camping at High Cliff

Here are a few pictures from our recent camping trip. We were fortunate to have beautiful weather to be enjoyed with a few family members.

Visiting with Adalynn

While up at the farm, we were able to check out Carrie and Garret’s new house. I am not sure how much Alstan and Elsie cared about the house, but they sure loved seeing Adalynn.
A sliding boat/train down the stairs; why not!
