On Friday dad and the kids had off school. What better day to head to Rock’n’Jump in Madison. These are some of the photos they sent to mom, who was stuck in professional development meetings all day. As Alstan and Elsie express it best, “Mom was stuck listening to blah blah blah blah...”
Recently the kids got tickets to the circus through school. Alstan decided he did not want to go to the circus though because of how the animals are treated. Instead, he and Elsie put on their own circus for Mom and dad. He was so focused while he worked on the instruments for the minion show!
Yes, it is a bit early. Apparently the marketing strategies of Walmart work, because both kids were ready to write their cards out long ago. I finally gave in today.
Elsie had her first basketball game today. It was actually a three game tournament. She hung in there and said she had a good time. She is very excited to share a love of basketball with her daddy!
Elsie is super happy to show off her medal and new basketball from today.
We had temps in the low forties this week Wednesday with a forecasted plummet to the single digits on Thursday. Mom thought it would be a good idea to get the Christmas lights down before the temperature change. It was so nice to have kids old enough to help take lights down. Although, our Alstan was a little sad about taking down the last of our Christmas decorations. A promise of a cup of hot cocoa with Mom reading a book to him helped him change his attitude.
Elsie made her own personal recipe today. She added orange zest and a bit of shredded cheese to her cake mix. She then topped it with a chocolate glaze that she made by melting her chocolates from her stocking and adding whipped topping. It may sound strange, but it was actually quite good!
It was tough to get a picture of Alstan that was not blurry. He was bouncing around with excitement through most of the gift opening. According to him, he got “everything he wanted for Christmas”.
