Look who is helping decorate her own cake! After watching a few baking shows, Elsie was super excited to be "piping" all by herself. Even though she said her hand hurt about halfway around the bottom she was determined to finish it herself.

Busy Bakers

There has been some busy bakers at our house preparing for Elsie's birthday.

Derby Car

 

Day 2 of working on his derby car. I think he'll need to pick up the pace if he wants to finish his car in time. Go Alstan!

Sledding with Friends!

Earlier in the week mom took Alstan, Elsie, and their friends from Lisa's sledding out behind the house. We thought we should enjoy the snow before it gets up to 40 over the weekend.

Playing Wii with Dad

Dad dusted off the Wii this weekend to show Elsie and Alstan how to play. They have been very excited about playing against dad.

Family Baking

Monday ended up being a day off for all of us, so what better thing to do than bake! Even dad helped us out a bit, and Alstan and Elsie took turns baking the last six or seven cookies in Elsie's baking oven. They then treated their friends at the babysitters with cookies for snack time today.

Pinewood Derby Race Car

Alstan has started working on his race car for cub scouts. He was a bit intimidated by the saw, but I'm not sure if it was more about the noise or the blade. He did alright with the sanding though. After all that he was tired of working on it for the day. Good thing we started early enough to pick it up again next weekend!

Dress Up!

This is a typical day in the life of Elsie. Before this last photo she had on her ladybug costume, but we didn't get a photo of it. After dinner she was the "jewelry lady" with all the jewelry she could find. We also missed a picture of that. I guess it is just kinda hard to keep up with all her new looks. She just loves playing dress up.

Baking Aprons

Elsie decided she needed an apron after watching the baking shows during the holiday season and mom couldn't say "no", so mom and Elsie got new aprons to match. Dad's response: "she won't always want to match her mom, so you might as well enjoy it now". 

Elsie loves to put her apron on to help dad cook (prepare salads) after school and, of course, making pancakes on Saturday with mom.

Alstan helped with some of the taping for Elsie's video. He just loves making videos and she just loves baking.

Alstan has been begging to make this video for the past two weekends. As you can see he has almost created a full baking show. He may be our future movie producer.

Just For Fun

Haircut!

Elsie has been wanting to get her hair cut short for a while now. Originally she pointed to her shoulders, but then decided to go just a bit longer. She is so proud of her "short" hair.

She decided she would wait until after Christmas so she could have long curls for Christmas at grandma and grandpas.

More Science!

Darien got Alstan's name for the Zielicke Christmas exchange. He gave him a science kit with six different experiments. Guess what we have been doing the last couple of days.
