Here's our little helper. Most females, maybe males too, remember putting a towel on their head or leaving their shirt hanging off their head and calling it their "long hair". Elsie loves to do it too; she just doesn't realize that her real hair is longer than her shirt.

Alstan's Kindergarten Car Show
Every year the kindergarten class makes cars with their third grade buddies. They then put on a car show for the entire elementary and parents. Here is a video of Alstan's car.

Tired!!
Alstan crashed in dad's arms Friday night at about 7:00, woke up briefly at about 8:30 and then slept through til 7:00 or so Saturday. He crashed next to dad again after lunch on Saturday. He is either fighting off something or had a very exhausting week. Dad enjoyed the cuddles either way!

Lucky Day!
It was a beautiful day on Wednesday, so after school we decided to walk to the local grocery store to buy chocolate chips. On our way we spotted this four leaf clover. Just after that a semi drove through town with a bulldozer on the back. Alstan was sure he was lucky enough to see it due to our lucky clover. We then ran into two of Elsie's friends from school at the grocery store. Now, Elsie was sure she had received some of the good luck too. Mom just felt lucky to have enjoyed such a nice walk with the two greatest kids in the world! (And some chocolate chip cookies too!)

House on the Rock
This past weekend the House on the Rock Resort was giving free admission to residents of Iowa County. Here are a few photos from our visit.

Basement Remodel
This seems like a slow process, but the walls are framed in and the electrician is close to being finished with the wiring. It has become our daily after-school tradition to check to see if anything has changed. Mom is getting more and more anxious for it to be done every time she has to do laundry.

Take Your Child To Work Day
When Alstan was four he came to my classroom for the day, and this year it was Elsie's turn. She has been waiting for Take Your Child To Work Day for the last two years. She woke up at 4:30 in the morning letting me know it was time to go to school. We also had Lumberjack Day so she was able to see horses and eat some pancakes. By the end of the day she was spent, and fell asleep under my desk within minutes of the kids leaving.

Bird Feeder
Check out the bird feeder Alstan designed himself. Mom tied the string for him, but it was completely his idea. He wanted to make it all natural so the birds would feel at home. The leaf and pine cone hanging down are so the birds don't get bored. They can be decorations or toys.
Girl Time
The boys slept in quite late this morning, so mom and Elsie had a little nails and coffee/hot cocoa time together. It was a great way to start off a Saturday morning!

New Umbrellas
With all the rain this week, the kids were restricted to only playing in certain areas if they didn't have boots. We tried to find rain boots at the local Walmart, but had no luck. The kids did, however, talk mom into buying them each an umbrella. Now they want it to rain more so they can use them. There was no rain in the forecast today, but Elsie thought she should take hers to Lisa's just in case.

Grandpa's Helpers
Alstan has been so excited about making a new friend with one of grandpa's cats. He was up at 6:00 in the morning just waiting for grandpa to go out to the barn. Elsie's favorite part was stepping on the bar to open the milk transfer for grandpa. She was quite upset when she had to go inside before he had finished, because she was his helper and her job wasn't done yet.
