Day With Aunt Nette

Yesterday was a perfect day for a visit to the "Crazy Farm". After a wonderful day of fall fun at the Busy Barns, we relaxed with a bonfire at Aunt Nette's place.

Sewing With Mom

Alstan and Elsie each made their own sewing projects tonight. Alstan made blankets for his dinos, while Elsie made a purse and a sleeping bag for her doll.

Mom's Little Hero

There was a huge spider living in the corner of the porch doorway. Alstan has been begging mom to let him kill it for the last week. The thought of it possibly falling on him while he tried to kill it was more than mom's nerves could handle. She finally let him give it a try tonight and he successfully accomplished his goal!

Apple Picking

This ended up being a perfect weekend for apple picking at Grandma and Grandpa Zielicke's.

Parade

Alstan is in the parade and his parents are NOT supposed to walk with him!

I got too close.

2nd and 3rd Day of School

Elsie loves school so much that she wants her picture taken every morning she goes.

Spikey

Alstan and Elsie have their first (possibly only) pet. They found this wooly bear caterpillar while out walking. They named it Spikey.

1st Day of School for Elsie

Elsie had her first day of 3-year old preschool yesterday. She has been looking forward to this all summer. After her meet the teacher night, she actually got upset when she didn't have school the next morning. Her teacher said she did really well yesterday.

Fall Hike

It may seem a bit early to be taking "fall" hikes, but the weather was beautiful for a hike this weekend. It felt like a fall day without the fall colors.

Clay Play

We got out some air dry clay last night. It seemed that the thing they wanted to make most was Christmas ornaments. Mom was thoroughly enjoying the moment: the kids were playing in clay and in the holiday mood. (Maybe a bit early, but they are only three and five. They have been asking about winter and Christmas since the start of summer,)

First Day of Kindergarten

If Alstan's outfit looks strangely familiar it might be because it is the same outfit he wore on the first day of school last year. He was determined it should be exactly the same; right down to the socks. I had to lie and say those were the same socks, because I had no clue what socks he wore last year. He says these are his first day of school clothes. I don't know what he is going to do next year when these don't fit anymore.

Iowa County Fair

I wouldn't say we are huge fair goers, but this year the kids were at the local fair three out of the five days. They loved it, so it ended up being a nice way to spend our last weekend of summer break.
