Alstan's First Tooth!

It's still kind of hard to see, but if you look at the zoomed in picture you can see his first tooth coming in on his bottom gum (and if you can't, click to make the image even bigger). We can definitely feel it when we stick our fingers in there!

Dad Needs to Shave More

The "rash" that Mom was worrying about wasn't really a rash... more like stubble burn. It was wearing off by the time we took the picture (check his left cheek), but it came from Dad kissing Alstan's neck to make him laugh. Good thing for him school starts tomorrow and I'll have to break out the razor.

Mom and Alstan

Here are a few pictures of Alstan just after he woke up. Tomorrow Jessie and I are off to work full time. We've already had a few inservice days under our belt. Hopefully we'll get a few more pictures taken again soon. We haven't been taking nearly enough pictures lately and so I haven't been posting.

Alstan updates:
- No teeth yet, but he's still drooling like crazy. A week or so ago we were walking through target and Jessie was holding like the pictures above. A stream of drool was running out of his mouth and on to the floor. Somebody probably slipped and broke an arm shortly after we left.
- Not crawling yet, but he is getting his butt way in the air and he's holding himself up on all fours sometimes.
- Not sleeping through the night yet, although he does do 3 or 4 hour blocks and will cry himself back to sleep if he's not too hungry.
- He is eating quite a bit of rice and oatmeal cereal though. He's having some squash with his cereal.
- He is also interested in everything that Mom and Dad touch. Currently, he's trying to smack the keyboard as I type one-handed. He also really wants to get his hands on the remote.
- He also reaches out to be picked up now. We'll probably start working on sign language soon.
- Finally, he still likes to jump!

Museum Debut

Alstan's first images up in a museum. It looks like it was a hit! Now that inservices are over, I'll try to get some new pictures up before we start school. We haven't been taking very many at all lately.

New Morph

I was teaching a college class this weekend so I did another morph of Alstan. This one is the progression of him holding his head up.

Moving Around

Alstan is getting much more mobile now. Rolling over and he's starting to move himself little bit on the ground. Especially if he's got something to grab on to for help.

Other updates:
-I don't want to jinx it, but Alstan has been sleeping through the night for over a week now. He's also been going down to bed pretty quickly each night. That is awesome!
-The rash on the back of his legs seems to be clearing up. The doctor tried a new cream and it seems to be helping, although the humid weather isn't.
-He started doing half days of daycare so he got used to being there. He's napping better there than he does at home and he's eating there too. He also seems to like their dog.
-He's getting very close to sitting on his own. In good spans he can go a couple of minutes before he tumbles over.

Standing

Alstan's LOVES standing almost as much as he loves bouncing. He will stand all day if you let him. In the first image he's even standing with one hand.

Camera

Alstan has a tendency to stop everything he's doing and stare at the camera. Of course if you get too close he'll try to chew on it.

Haircut?

Is it time for Alstan to get a haircut yet? Vote at the left! Your vote will carry as much weight as mine (none), but it's still your civic duty.

Sitting Up

He's not sitting up on his own for long, but he can hang in there for a few seconds before he falls over. He also is lifting his head up trying to sit up all the time. I would think his little abs would get sore doing those mini crunches all day.

Eating is Fun!

Vacation

I'm not sure why, but we barely took any photos during vacation. These pictures are with Eric and Becky's kids. Tate is the oldest one and Grayson is the younger one. It was Alstan's first chance to be around other little kids and he loved watching Tate run around.

At Grandma and Grandpa Van's house he was really into watching (and grabbing fur if he could) cats. He also began rolling over from both his belly to back and his back to belly with much more regularity while we were in South Dakota. He spit up on everyone except Grandpa while he was there. I'll also have some video of Amie being his personal jumper too. It was amazing, she bounced him for like half an hour. I would have given up much earlier.

Then, we went to Mall of America. That was exhausting (for Dad anyway), but Alstan did well. In the first hour at the mall he pooped through his diaper, onsie, and shorts all the way to Aunt Amie's shirt. Ah, the fun of babies.

It was a fun trip, but it was good to get home. Alstan traveled well and on the last drive he may have slept less in the car than his mom did!
