Personal Recipe

Elsie made her own personal recipe today. She added orange zest and a bit of shredded cheese to her cake mix. She then topped it with a chocolate glaze that she made by melting her chocolates from her stocking and adding whipped topping. It may sound strange, but it was actually quite good!

Merry Christmas, 2017!

It was tough to get a picture of Alstan that was not blurry. He was bouncing around with excitement through most of the gift opening. According to him, he got “everything he wanted for Christmas”.

The kids opened their gifts from each other last night!

Santa Tracking

Dad and the kids got the Amazon echo going yesterday, so the kids have been asking Alexa where Santa is about every half hour or less. They then run in to Alstan’s room and track his progress on his new wall map.

Festive!

Dad has been called “festive” at school multiple times this year. It seems he is embracing his new festive self: he bought the whole family holiday T’s.

Alstan’s Class Play

Alstan's class put on a play about how the angel got to be on top of the Christmas Tree. Alstan played the part of an elephant trying out for the position.

Gingerbread House Making

This has been our project for the last week. The kids did a great job!

Snow Fun

We do not have snow at home, so the kids made sure they got outside to enjoy the snow at grandma and grandpa’s.


I guess it was a big weekend, because they both crashed on the ride home.

Zielicke Family Christmas

This year we started the day by making popcorn balls. We used to do this every year as kids, so it was fun for Alstan and Elsie to experience one of the Zielicke family traditions.

Dinner at the Moenk’s

Alstan and Elsie just adore spending time with their little cousin Adalynn, so we stopped by Aunt Carrie’s and Uncle Garret’s house for a quick visit.

Just for Fun

You can’t really see them on the kids in the top picture, but we decided to get ourselves a set of matching holiday pjs.

Family Night Out

We went to see the Nutcracker as a family again this year. Since it was so cold walking up State St., we decided on our way back to stop into Starbucks for hot drinks and a cake pop, before continuing to our car.

Little Helper

I know you shouldn’t hang your dirty laundry out for everyone to see, but what about clean clothes that are just folded kinda crazy? This past weekend mom was gone for a girls day, which is usually when she tries to catch up on laundry. Alstan, being the caring little fella he is, decided to help mom out by folding laundry. Most of the clothes in that particular load were mom and dad’s, as you may be able to tell. While it may not folded just right, this is just the sweetest! Thanks buddy!!
