Visit from the Schinskes

Aunt Tracey and Andrew came to visit us for the weekend. We had a wonderful time visiting the local shops and touring the historic Pendarvis house. We were lucky to get a couple of individual demonstrations from clay artists.

Baby Time!

These two can never seem to get enough of their sweet little cousin. We stopped over for dinner, but I think they could have cared less about eating as long as they got to play with her.

Camping

We just got back from camping by Lake Michigan. We had fun swimming in the lake which, surprisingly, wasn't terribly cold. Well, the kids, mom and Aunt Nette went into the lake. Dad had the last word later as the wind picked up and mom got cold. Too bad we had to pack up one night early due to lightening in the forecast.

Recycling

Alstan read an article and watched a few videos about making art from the recycling. Today the kids made their who own projects.

Family Beach Day

Since it is finally starting to feel like summer, we decided that a day at the beach was in order. We had packed a picnic lunch, so we could head over to the lake right after swimming lessons. Needless to say, but after a full day of swimming, both kids and parents were exhausted and ready for a good nights rest.

What to do when it is too cold to go to the beach?





We had planned to have a beach day with Aunt Nette, however with temps only reaching the low seventies our plans changed. After hiking to the top of the Platteville "M", the kids took out their new bikes on a trail near Platteville. This was a new path for the kids, so we were excited to find a tunnel!






In the evening we enjoyed live music across the street at the Orchard Lawn's "Jamming on the Porch". One of Elsie's request every summer is to be able to go to at least one of these performances.

Cooking!

The Van Overmeer boys worked together tonight to make dinner. Dinner was delicious!!

Swimming Lessons

Both kids were super excited about there first day of swimming lessons. It made it extra exciting to be able to jump off the diving boards on the first day!!

Pitfire Guest

Look who decided to join us for our pit fire last night. It came back twice during the time we were out there, and was not extremely quick to leave even after we noticed it. Elsie was very excited about this being the closest she has ever been to a deer in the wild.

4th of July

This year we spent the 4th of July at Grandma and Grandpa Zielicke's. We didn't go watch the fireworks, but enjoyed time with family during the day.
