Visit to Peck's with Grandma Van

We almost forgot to post these pictures from June. Oops. Grandma Van came out to visit for a couple of days, so one of the days we went to Peck's. The bouncy house is a great way to get out some of Alstan's energy.  Love the socks Dad :)

Helping Dad Paint

We finally decided to paint our kitchen after seven years of living here. We let Alstan and Elsie have fun helping paint on the one wall. Only to later decide we didn't like yellow and changed the color all together.

First day of Swimming Lessons

 Alstan is almost going under the water here.

Elsie was suppose to be blowing bubbles, but was trying to drink the water instead.

Cars Castle

One of the suggestions Alstan had for our summer to do list was art projects. Here we made a castle for his cars out of a baby wipes box. If you think it looks like they got into a paint fight in the first couple of pictures, you would be right.

Farmers Appreciation Parade

This post is quite late, but here are pictures from the parade in Dodgeville. In spite of the heat, the kids loved it! With so many tractors, it places right up there with Alstan's favorites.

Bedtime story

Elsie loves her books and anything that is Alstan's. Here she climbed into Alstan's bed with her baby to read a story. Alstan decided that was a good idea!

Train ride in the Mall

As a way to beat the heat while we visited Aunt Nette, we went to the Janesville Mall. They have a little train that drives around the mall. Alstan was not going to let us get by without getting a ride.

McDonald's Clubhouse

Alstan refers to the play area at McDonald's as his Clubhouse like on Mickey Mouse.  With it being over 90 for seemingly a month straight we have spent WAY more time at the McDonald's play area than anticipated this summer.  As you can see, the kids don't mind, but their parents are a little burnt out on the food options.

Cars, Cars and more Cars

It seems that all Alstan wants to do lately is play with his cars. We can hardly get him to want to go to the park, parade, McDonald's or Aunt Nette's anymore, because he doesn't want to stop playing cars. (Although once we do get him to do other things, he loves it.)

Floating

Alstan has recently discovered how much fun it is to float in the bathtub. He now "practices" his swimming each time we take a bath. Elsie likes to try lying on her back next to him sometimes too.

Stinky Shoe

Alstan has his first pet. He found a pet rock while we were at the beach and named it "Stinky Shoe". Here he is painting it and adding eyes. He chose the rhinestone eyes rather than googly eyes, because "monsters have googly eyes".

Story time

First Dentist Appointment

Alstan had his first dental check up a couple of weeks ago. He did great! We hope they all go that smoothly. (wishful thinking maybe)

Movie Night

Alstan had an exciting night at the movie theater. They had Cars 2 playing at the local theater a couple of weeks ago. Alstan was able to watch his favorite characters with his good friends Bree and Brynn.

Trip to the Fish Store

Mom took the kids into an fish and aquarium store. They absolutely loved it! When we were ready to leave, Alstan had to walk around to every tank and say "good-bye fishys", because "they were all his favorite friends".
